The Canadian immigration system allows permanent residents and citizens to sponsor their spouse, partner and children and bring them to Canada. There are also programs for sponsoring parents and grandparents.
The sponsor must be eligible to start the application; they need to financially support the people that they sponsor, and they also guarantee that the person they bring to Canada would not apply for government social assistance for a specific period of time.
The person who is being sponsored must also submit an application for permanent residence, meet eligibility criteria and be admissible to Canada.
