Visiting Canada
Although citizens of some countries do not need a visa to enter Canada (visa-exempt), they still need to get an eTA to enter Canada. eTA will be electronically linked to their passport, and as long as the passport is valid, eTA is valid for up to 5 years. eTA is only required for air travellers to Canada. U.S. citizens do not need an eTA.
A lot of foreign nationals need a visitor visa to travel to Canada. Applicants need to have a strong purpose to visit Canada and supporting documents which both show they have enough financial means to fund their stay in Canada and demonstrate they will return to their country of origin after their visit. With a multiple entry visitor visa, foreign nationals can remain in Canada for up to 6 months at every time.
Parents or grandparents who want to stay with their children or grandchildren for longer periods in every visit can apply for a super visa. Although it is a more complex and complicated application and process, super visa holders can stay up to 2 years for every time they enter Canada.
The super visa applicants need to show sufficient funds, undergo a medical examination, and buy medical insurance as part of their visa application.
