Working in Canada

Most foreign nationals need a work permit to work in Canada. However, there are some exceptions, and there are different work permits based on the individuals and their profiles, their country of origin and the available programs.

A work permit could be either “an employer-specific work permit” or an “open work permit.” In an employer specific work permit, the applicant must only work for a particular employer, at a specific location, and for a certain period of time, while in an open work permit, the permit holder can work for almost all employers all over Canada, while certain restrictions still apply.
